Beyond smartphones, Nothing’s product lineup has been steadily expanding. The company recently launched two new Bluetooth speakers. According to an insider, the UK-based brand may now be preparing to venture into another emerging category: wearable devices. It is reported that the company is developing two pairs of smart glasses integrated with artificial intelligence (AI). One model is believed to focus on audio playback and voice assistant functionality, while the other may also include a built-in camera.
Smart glasses may not launch in two separate versions
According to information shared by tipster Roland Quandt on Bluesky, Nothing is developing two pairs of smart glasses with distinct feature sets. The first model is said to focus on audio capabilities—essentially functioning like headphones built into a pair of glasses. It reportedly supports music playback, audiobooks, phone calls, and interaction with the voice assistant on a connected smartphone.
According to the leaker, the second model will offer the same features but will additionally include a camera, ChatGPT integration, and translation capabilities.
Both pairs of glasses are reportedly equipped with photochromic lenses. Similar to the Transitions lenses used by Meta in its Ray-Ban Meta eyewear line, these lenses automatically darken when exposed to sunlight and become clear again indoors.
However, Quandt has not shared any images of these devices, and details such as their design, pricing, battery life, and release dates remain under wraps. There is currently no information regarding a potential launch timeline.
In theory, the audio-only version could complement Nothing’s existing lineup of audio products—such as the recently launched Nothing Headphone (1) Pro. The version equipped with a camera, meanwhile, would require additional hardware to capture images and support AI-driven features. Much like Meta’s offerings, this could allow users to interact with ChatGPT and utilize translation tools while wearing the glasses.
Meta has established itself as a leader in this space with its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The company recently introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, which features a 12-megapixel camera, 3K video recording, and upgraded hardware. It also offers a version of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses focused on music, calls, and hands-free AI assistant functionality, but without an integrated camera.
Samsung and Google have also showcased smart glasses developed in collaboration with eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, respectively. Meanwhile, there are rumors that Apple is also working on smart glasses, though its plans have yet to be confirmed.
