A train search can look correct while using the wrong station or date. Check the complete journey before comparing availability.
Use the station you can actually reach
Large cities can have several railway stations. Confirm the station name or code with your itinerary rather than choosing the first familiar city result. Consider how you will reach the departure station and leave the arrival station. A shorter rail journey can still be inconvenient if its stations do not fit the rest of your trip.
Resolve overnight dates carefully
When travelling around midnight, write down the calendar date on which the train departs your boarding station. Compare that date with accommodation and connecting travel plans. Do not rely only on a conversational phrase such as Friday night. If the displayed journey does not match your intended departure, resolve the mismatch before proceeding.
Keep the search and booking stages separate
The official Rail Connect listing describes train searches and availability checks as well as booking management. Looking at availability does not reserve accommodation. Compare complete alternatives
If you consider another station, class or departure, write each option on a separate line. Include the transfer required at either end and the arrival day.
